Right as the beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is about to kick off, Activision has warned PC players that the requirements to access the game’s multiplayer modes have become quite strict. The company has noted that “players who do not meet requirements will be restricted from playing any online game mode”, and has published a video guide that takes players through all the steps needed to complete the prerequisites, which include enabling Secure Boot and ensuring that hardware supports TMP 2.0.
The video, which you can check out below, comes in at four and a half minutes in length, and explains how the Ricochet Anti-Cheat system needs TMP 2.0 and Secure Boot to function properly. The guide goes into technical step-by-step detail about how players can check whether both options are enabled, and prompts them to enter their computer’s BIOS settings to make the required changes in case they are disabled.
Along with these BIOS settings, Activision has also warned that Windows UAC might present the final hurdle, which can be jumped over simply by hitting “Yes” when Windows asks the player whether Modern Warfare 4 should be allowed to access network features.
It is worth noting that these settings aren’t just required for Modern Warfare 4; Activision has confirmed that Warzone players will also need to enable them to make system-level tampering more difficult for cheaters. Through this, the company hopes to “protect the integrity of the beta from day one.”
The beta will be available to those who had pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Among the content available is the brand-new Kill Block mode, which was unveiled back in May. Described as a “live-fire training facility built for elite operators, which gives players a fresh gameplay experience with every new round,” the game mode is noted as being capable of offering more than 500 map layouts and a variety of objectives.
Just last week, Activision and Infinity Ward released a video from Fanatics Fest where Kill Block was showcased with some hands-on time for attendees. The video acknowledged that Kill Block is still far from being complete. However, the various developers showed quite a bit of pride in the game mode.
“We’re excited that players get to finally test Kill Block. We’ve been at it for the last month or so just play testing the build to make sure it’s steady and stable and ready for the event,” said communications manager Guignard Isaac in the days leading up to Fanatic Fest.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is slated for release on October 23rd, and is being developed for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The single-player campaign of the shooter will revolve around North Korea kicking off a war that erupts into a global conflict, and the multiplayer modes will offer 12 core maps at launch.
