When Rebel Wolves finally debuted console footage for The Blood of Dawnwalker, excitement and trepidation abounded. As good as it looked, the lack of 60 FPS support at launch was a letdown. Or so we thought. Following fan feedback, the developer has since confirmed that it will be available on day one after downloading the patch.
Explaining the late confirmation, it said, “On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch. Performance Mode was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.
“We heard your feedback. It was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on finishing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1.”
Rebel Wolves noted that Performance Mode on PS5 Pro, PS5, and Xbox Series X targets 60 FPS, much like how Quality and Balanced Modes target 30 and 40 FPS respectively. Of course, those playing on Pro can expect improved visuals, though the studio has yet to outline everything. As for Xbox Series S, it confirmed that there’s only one mode, targeting 30 FPS.
Regardless, it’s better late than never, especially with The Blood of Dawnwalker launching on September 3rd. It went gold last month and, thus far, has accumulated two million wishlists across all platforms. Check out our feature for everything you should know before diving in.
While the development team hasn’t detailed its post-launch plans, it is planning to release smaller add-ons for free. Of course, there are also plans for a wider franchise, with save data from the first game to carry over into future sequels.
