Developer Behaviour Interactive has finally unveiled its debut project – Exterminauts. The game was unveiled with a trailer showcasing its sci-fi setting and 3-player co-op gameplay. Check it out below.
The title will be a third-person shooter that tasks players with taking on massive alien threats while also protecting nearby bases. The narrator implies that players will be forced to constantly stave off the complete collapse of their base, and will often also be tasked with repairing things that are constantly breaking apart.
The primary setting of Exterminauts will be planet Tian, where players will have to take on missions to stave off unpredictable threats. Not too many details about the story or gameplay have been revealed yet aside from the trailer. The title is being developed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, and doesn’t yet have a release date. The title is being published by Tencent Games subsidiary Level Infinite in partnership with Team Shooter & Creative.
Aside from base-building mechanics, the gameplay for Exterminauts seems to be quite similar to Helldivers 2, with players having to take on increasingly escalating threats to defend their base. However, details about things like mission variety and what kinds of aliens will have to be taken out weren’t revealed.
Behaviour Interactive has been working on its first project for quite some time, and since its founding, has faced quite a bit of trouble. However, following some layoffs a couple of years ago, the team seems to have found some stable ground and has been quietly working on the co-op shooter since.
