After rumors of its release date and price, Microsoft announced that pre-orders for its Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and controller will begin on August 27th at 7 AM PDT. “Loyal fans” will receive emails to begin pre-ordering today ahead of its launch on November 13th.
As rumored, the Xbox Series X25 will cost $899.99 and includes a download code for Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of Bungie’s iconic first-person shooter that put the Xbox brand on the map in 2001. Fittingly, it features Master Chief’s helmet on the chassis.
Each console comes with a unique engraved number, further reinforcing its limited edition nature. Xbox also teased several “Easter eggs” in the design, and if we don’t see Blinx: The Time Sweeper, expect trouble.
If you’re keen on the controller alone, it’s out separately on October 20th and looks to channel the original Xbox’s aesthetic (right down to the logo). The Left and Right Bumpers are also white and black, calling back to the OG Xbox controller’s face button.
So if you’re a fan of translucent green, you’re pretty much covered until Project Helix launches (rumored for Holiday 2027). Despite all the hardware troubles that Xbox has faced – declining revenue, rising prices, and whatnot – the Xbox Series X25 is a touching tribute to the brand, if nothing else.
