If Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s extensive gameplay at Opening Night Live left you wanting more, director Naoki Hamaguchi and battle director Teruki Endo recently participated in a panel at PAX West 2026. New gameplay was showcased, highlighting the fighting styles of Cid and Vincent alongside the Summoner and Black Mage FITS.
But what’s even more interesting (as reported by Genki_JPN on Twitter) is how Revelation’s equivalent of the Job system was originally handled. There are four FITS, and each character would have had to unlock them separately as rewards or milestones throughout the story. However, Endo was against; instead, the entire party will have access to all FITS within the first five to six hours.
“Endo-san was like ‘No, we got to have everything accessible from the beginning.’ He was adamant about that,” said Haamguchi.
It’s an approach that encourages “greater freedom than ever before,” per one of the slides at the panel. If that wasn’t enough, Hamaguchi also announced a transmog feature that separates a character’s look and FITS. And while that’s good news for those who want Cloud to have his standard look even as a Knight, you can discover more skins by completing side content. Some are apparently “quirky and funny,” as Genki_JPN noted on Twitter. Moogle onesies for all? Time will tell.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on April 8th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s playable at Tokyo Game Show next week, so stay tuned for more gameplay and impressions.
