PlayStation’s first of two State of Play presentations culminated in an extended look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Surprisingly, Square Enix announced that the finale to the Remake trilogy launches on April 8th, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
As for the gameplay, it showcased several new gameplay features. For example, Chocobos can partake in mounted combat and become stronger as you progress through the story. It’s not mandatory, and players can dismount at any time to fight normally. Two new FITS are also showcased: Summoner, which brings in entities like Ifrit to attack alongside you, and Knight, who acts as a tank and supports allies.
Wutai is also revealed, where you can photograph cats, use the new grappling gun to traverse rooftops and more. Previously visited locations are unlocked as fast travel points, and when returning to places like Gongaga, you’ll encounter familiar characters like Cissnei from the spin-offs. What’s even more interesting is that odd jobs can change in gameplay depending on who’s in the lead.
If that wasn’t enough, Queen’s Blood returns and serves as a new story for Red XIII, as he takes on challenging opponents. While Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is out next April, newcomers can pre-order the Trilogy Edition today and receive Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth ahead of launch.
