The Blood of Dawnwalker was always one of our top picks for games to beat this year, and we’re glad to see it succeed in the way that it has.
We found it truly enjoyable in our review, and we’re now seeing how the rest of the game’s critical reception has been comparably favorable. That isn’t too much of a surprise as Coen’s adventure is packed with unpredictability, great combat, innovative mechanics, and a great story to wrap it all up. Of course, we found the dichotomy of his human and vampire sides, a side effect of being a Dawnwalker, to be particularly noteworthy thanks to how it essentially switched up the way you approach traversal and the open world.
The choice-based narrative hits hard and often, and we’ve been spellbound by things that unfolded as we dismantled Brencis’ hold on Vale Sangora. It was enough to make us wonder whether saving our family came at a price that was too high for our gruff yet charming protagonist.
If you’ve been on the fence about sinking your teeth into this one (pun intended), the trailer below may sway you over. Especially since it’s the beginning of something special that will take shape over the next few years, with a sequel already being planned.
