While its roadmap for post-launch add-ons is still pending, The Blood of Dawnwalker will receive a fairly popular feature: New Game Plus. Director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed this on a recent PlayStation stream (translation via GamesRadar). When? Well, therein lies the rub.
“It’s coming,” he said. “But I won’t tell you when.” Honestly, we don’t know what we expected.
In all seriousness, however, New Game Plus would be a fantastic decision. The Blood of Dawnwalker’s time mechanic means that you can’t necessarily see everything that the game has to offer, much less unlock all of Coen’s upgrades. This effectively lets players mop up any remaining quests and become even stronger, perhaps taking on tougher enemies to make up for it.
Would it feel kind of cheap, especially since the game is balanced around choices and consequences? And how much easier would it be to challenge Brencis early? Time will tell, but at the very least, it should make second playthroughs that much more worthwhile.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC and has sold one million copies thus far. You can check out our review, where we gave it a nine out of ten. Rebel Wolves is already looking into a sequel, though it may forego the time mechanic altogether depending on how well it fits.
