As other multiplayer shooters have come and gone, some leaving their mark like WARDOGS while others, like Marathon, barely hang on, ARC Raiders has remained relatively low-key. It’s received patches, but Frozen Trail marks its first big infusion of content since Embark Studios shifted to a bi-yearly cadence for major updates.
It’s out on October 8th, but a First Look will premiere on September 23rd at 10 AM PDT. Once again, the studio touts it as the extraction shooter’s “biggest update yet,” and we’re inclined to believe them. Aside from the biggest-ever map for the game, it will also feature new ARC threats and progression goals. There are also different mysteries to uncover, and players will seemingly learn more about the genocidal machines that have hunted them for so long.
But that’s not all. You can expect new gadgets and other items, weapon improvements, and outposts to decorate. It’s unknown if we’ll see any changes to the Skill Tree, so stay tuned for more updates.
Despite commanding fewer active players than before, ARC Raiders is still a major hit for Embark and parent company Nexon. It’s sold 16.2 million units and earned $552.8 million in lifetime revenue, though sales have understandably slowed. Will Frozen Trail kick things back into gear and maybe bring back those who were burnt out? Stay tuned for its launch in the coming weeks.
