With speculation about when Rockstar Games could release Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC, the least expected timeframe is probably early 2027. However, according to GamesBeat, which spoke with four industry sources “familiar with the studio’s plans,” the port is reportedly launching in the first three months of next year.
With GTA 6 launching next month, the PC version apparently dropping so quickly is uncharted territory for the developer. Grand Theft Auto 5’s PC version arrived 19 months after its Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, while Red Dead Redemption 2 took a little over a year to launch on PC. By comparison, less than five months is a remarkably quick turnaround for the company.
Rockstar Games hasn’t provided any comment – not that it’s expected, given how coy it’s been about a PC version in the past. That said, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said that the company would release on “any platforms” with a “meaningful audience.” “If platforms were no longer viable, we could change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”
Granted, that doesn’t necessarily mean a quicker PC release for GTA 6. But considering it’s the industry’s biggest title in the past decade, if not more, why not capitalize on the market as quickly as possible? Time will tell, so stay tuned for updates.
