Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant has sold one million copies since launching on September 24th, which is impressive given the incredibly stacked month of releases. 2019’s Control sold over two million copies by December 2020, so the sequel’s pace has definitely been faster.
It’s even surpassed Alan Wake 2, which launched in late October 2023 and sold over one million copies by December, becoming the developer’s fastest-selling release yet. Of course, the devil is in the details, as Control Resonant’s budget may have been far greater, especially with Remedy touting it as its “biggest and most ambitious game” yet.
Time will tell if its sales momentum continues, but thus far, it looks promising. Besides becoming the developer’s biggest Steam launch with nearly 43,000 peak concurrent players, it amassed more than two million wishlists across all platforms before launch. Critical reception has also been strong, with an 83 Metascore based on 83 reviews.
Control Resonant is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our 9 out of 10 review, where we praised its presentation, combat (despite the slow start) and storytelling. Remedy’s last major update added New Game++ while polishing every single aspect of the experience, and another arrives in November to add Photo Mode. Stay tuned for more details when it goes live.
