Fatal Frame (1-3)

Developer: Tecmo
Publisher: Tecmo, Wanadoo, Microsoft Game Studios, SCEA, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft

Fatal Frame is a survival-horror genre video game with each installment of the series released on the PlayStation 2 containing its own unique storyline. Storylines for each installment vary and do not carry over. Players are ultimately trapped in an area to explore and with puzzles to solve in order to progress through the game. What makes the game stand out is that evil spirits begin to hunt down the protagonist and your only weapon happens to be a camera.

By taking a picture of an evil spirit, the player can capture it and lock the spirit away. But there is a catch; the camera requires different film cartridges depending on the evil spirit. With limited film, players will have to use it sparingly as they solve puzzles and locate the different save points. Similar to other survival-horror series, save points are located throughout different areas and only available if the area is clear from evil spirits.
