Alan Wake 2

Remedy Entertainment has plenty of major projects on its plate, and while many of those are exciting ones, the one that most have their eyes on right now is Alan Wake 2. The long-awaited sequel to Remedy’s beloved psychological thriller title is set to arrive sometime this year, and though the developer hasn’t provided any significant updates on it since announcing it a couple of years ago, it seems details on when it might launch have emerged.

Actor Matthew Porretta – who has voiced titular protagonist Alan Wake in all of his appearances, and will be reprising his role in the upcoming sequel – was recently on the Monsters, Madness, and Magic podcast (spotted on ResetEra), where he let slip that Alan Wake 2 is due out this October.

“I’ve been working on it,” Porretta said when asked about his voice acting work in Alan Wake 2 (at around the 16:50 mark). “That’s supposed to come out in October. We’re in the middle of working on it now. In fact, I was just in Finland last week. That’s where the company is from- Remedy. Amazing people.”

Remedy Entertainment and publisher Epic Games have not yet announced a launch date for Alan Wake 2, though the former has stressed on multiple occasions that it will be releasing sometime this year. Earlier this year, Remedy confirmed that the game was fully playable from start to finish, while last month, the developer confirmed that the project had entered “the last major phase of full production.”

Whether we end up seeing more of the game in the coming weeks remains to be seen, though with major events like the PlayStation Showcase, Xbox Games Showcase, and Summer Game Fest all lined up, we wouldn’t bet against it.

Alan Wake 2 is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
