As we get closer to the December premiere of Fallout’s second season, Amazon has now confirmed that we’ll also be getting a quick look at the upcoming season at Gamescom during Opening Night Live. The official social media account for the Amazon Prime Fallout show made the announcement with a poster.

“Time for a little road trip,” posted the official social media account. “Season Two is coming but first: a quick pitstop @gamescom #OpeningNightLive on Tuesday. Bring a Stimpak.” This post was met with replies by both the official Xbox account, which posted “VIVA NEW VEGAS”, as well as the official Gamescom account, which posted “Already legendary”.

Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event will be going live on August 19. Host Geoff Keighley had confirmed back in July that the event will be around two hours long, and will kick off at 11 am PT. Among the things showcased during Opening Night Live will be trailers, reveals, updates, and new announcements, among other things.

The second season of Amazon Prime’s Fallout had been greenlit by the company back in April 2024. The series is set to continue the story where the first season left off, and will likely involve New Vegas judging by some of the hints from season one. Filming for the second season had kicked off all the way back in November according to actress Leslie Uggams who plays Vault 33’s Betty Pearson. “We start November,” she said last year. “I’m excited about it.”

Since then, however, production had hit a number of issues, with wildfires in the Los Angeles regions where the show was being filmed causing delays. Back in January, the Los Angeles permit agency for filming, FilmLA, had explained that permits issued for filming in locations like Altadena, La Crescenta, La Canada/Flintridge and uincorporated Pasadena were being withdrawn.

Despite these production hiccups, filming for the second season of Fallout was eventually wrapped up. A report from back in May described the plot of Fallout: Season 2 as one that will “take audiences along for a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.”

Amazon MGM Studios global head of television Vernon Sanders had also confirmed that the company is quite confident in the second season of Fallout, going as far as confirming that the show is also getting renewed for a third season.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout,” said Sanders. “Jonah, Lisa, Geneva, and Graham have done an exceptional job bringing this beloved video game franchise to vivid life on Prime Video. Together with our amazing partners at Bethesda Games and Bethesda Softworks, we are delighted to announce a third season of Fallout, well ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Season Two.”

The Fallout series has been quite successful, with Amazon having confirmed that its first season had gotten more than 100 million viewers, making it one of the top three shows produced by Amazon Prime so far.
