Even though the people over at BioWare are constantly interacting with fans and revealing new details about Anthem, it’s been a while since we saw any new footage from the upcoming shared world shooter. If you’re wondering when we’ll be seeing more of the game, according to BioWare, it’s going to be “soon”.
Recently, while responding to a thread on Reddit, BioWare’s head of global communications, Andrew Johnson said that following Anthem’s recent development milestone, the team is currently “working very hard on the game”, but while that’s what they’re focused on, they will have something to show “soon”.
“The team is indeed working very hard on the game (it’s in Alpha in case you didn’t hear) but that doesn’t mean we won’t have something to show soon-ish,” he wrote. “I fully realize Soon(tm) is a cliche at this point but that’s about all I can confirm right now.”
Meanwhile, over on Twitter, Anthem’s lead producer Ben Irving was also responding to fans, and revealed a few more details. To start off, Irving mentioned that BioWare has been considering putting melee builds into them game, and that as such, they’ve decided to make some gear for the Interceptor exosuit to allow players to make a melee build (or maybe even more than just one). Do not, however, expect there to be any stealthy avenues in the game.
Additionally, Irving also confirmed that combos during combat in Anthem will work similar to how they did in Mass Effect: Andromeda, in that they will be based more on gear combos than interaction of elements. “It’s mainly a gear thing,” he wrote. “Some things can “prime” a target while others can “detonate” a target.”
Anthem launches on February 22, 2019 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
There was some talk about melee builds. We decided to make some gear for the interceptor to allow a melee build (maybe plural)
