Remember when it seemed like Ubisoft was on the cusp of revealing its long-rumored remake for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag? Following its massive organizational shuffle, the title has allegedly been delayed out of the current fiscal year into 2027, but that doesn’t mean a reveal in the coming months is off the cards.

Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw reported in the recent weekly podcast that it’s still in development and could be revealed sometime in April. It matches a rumor by insider shinobi602, who revealed that the remake wouldn’t be at State of Play (which was correct) and that a reveal was “not too far off.” Apparently, a release date has also been set, but time will tell if it’s actually next year.

Perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets in contemporary gaming, rumors began circulating about the Black Flag Remake as early as July 2023. Throughout 2025, several more hints would drop, from voice actor Matt Ryan (who voices Edward Kenway) teasing the same to a rating by PEGI, which seemingly confirmed its name as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

It was allegedly to launch on March 19th before Ubisoft hit the big reset button. Thus far, rumors have claimed several changes, including weather effects similar to Assassin’s Creed Shadows, new content, no modern-day Animus sections, and an improved map.
