The first year of Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ post-launch support offers new story quests, features like an open-world alarm system, New Game Plus and more difficulty options. It also has Claws of Awaji, the first expansion, out later this year (allegedly in September), but what about the future? Is the rumored co-op mode still in the works?
Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports this to be the case. Codenamed “LEAGUE,” it’s allegedly out next year, but interestingly, Naoe and Yasuke aren’t the focus. Instead, they’re reportedly central characters while a “deeper narrative” expands the experience “beyond just the two of them,” according to a source.
This could mean additional playable characters. Perhaps the allies recruited through the campaign? They already have unique skills, so if “LEAGUE” adapts a hero-based approach (not unlike Ghost of Tsushima: Legends), it could work.
Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It crossed three million players since launch with its next update, which adds the first collaboration with Behaviour Interactive’s Dead by Daylight, out on May 27th.
