After its initial announcement in 2020, Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed finally received some gameplay, showcasing the aesthetic and the various environments players will explore. In a new Xbox Wire post, studio head Feargus Urquhart outlined some new details, including the name of the trailer’s narrator – Kai, a companion that plays a “major” role.

As a Coastal Aumaua and former soldier, he’s “idealistic and pragmatic.” As for the combat, we saw swords, spells, pistols and shields. Players can dual-wield, and there are several combinations to experiment with. While venturing through the Living Lands, you’ll encounter the Xuarips, hostile lizard-like creatures, the undead who carry the mysterious plague and even killer plants.

Urquhart says the team will share “much, much more” as it gets closer to the game’s release, so stay tuned for more details and ogle the screenshots below. Avowed launches in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC while being available on day one for Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
