The model for male Shepard is a real man
Shepard is a good looking dude, no doubt. Creating a 3D model from scratch with no reference is absolutely challenging and near to impossible, because as artists, they all need some kind of reference and hence they found a male model for Shepard: Dutch model Mark Vanderloo. Mark Vanderloo is a spitting image of Shepard as you can notice from the image, and if you spot him, just mention Commander Shepard, and maybe he’ll sign an autograph for you.
