Battlefield Studios has announced that the new set of content for Battlefield 6 as part of Season 2 is out now. Dubbed Hunter/Prey, the update revolves around the escalation of battles for the control of a satellite defense network, and brings with it a new Bonus Path for the Battle Pass. It is headlined by two new additions: a vehicle and a weapon.

The new vehicle is a NATO Armored Personnel Carrier dubbed the LTV, which will help players out by keeping their squads in the front line thanks to its four seats. It also includes ammo resupply stations. The weapon is the Ripper 14″ knife, which can help players with close-quarters engagements that come down to hand-to-hand combat.

Along with this, the update also brings a new limited-time mode, dubbed Operation Augur. The mode revolves around two connected maps where players partake in push-and-pull gameplay as they attack and defend objectives. Starting off in Contaminated, complete with the availability of VL-7 Smoke from Nightfall, the battle then descends into Hagental Base, where an emphasis on close-quarters combat kicks in. Operation Augur was unveiled with a trailer earlier this month.

The last major update for Battlefield 6 was Nightfall, which brought in quite a bit of content across regular multiplayer modes and the battle royale-focused REDSEC. The update introduced the Hagental Base map, which is completely underground, and gives players flanking opportunities thanks to destructible walls and ceilings.

REDSEC saw a similar addition to its map, dubbed Defense Testing Complex 3 at Fort London. Described as a secret chemical testing facility under the main battleground, the point of interest includes a network of tunnels where fights can break out.

Nightfall also introduced two close-quarters weapons to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC: the CZ3A1 SMG and the vz. 61 fully automatic sidearm.

More recently, Ripple Effect design director Justin Wiebe said in an interview that the Battlefield 6 development team is paying attention to fan feedback following the release of the Nightfall update. “We’re listening, and we’re reacting, and it’s going to continue that way for a very long time…We’re getting amazing feedback from the community, and we’re constantly trying to strive to make the best game possible,” he said.

“It’s not like, ‘Hey, we crafted this massive plan, and we’re going to hold to it.’ It’s like, no. Anything can change based on what is going on with the community, what is going on with the feedback, and what we’re seeing from the game.”

Despite the general success of Battlefield 6, a report from last month has indicated that EA has gone through multiple layoffs. Dubbing the move an ongoing “realignment effort,” an EA spokesperson said that Battlefield will continue to be one of the company’s biggest priorities.

“We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs.”

Battlefield 6 and Battlefield: REDSEC are available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
