Sony has previously talked about its intention to keep investing in studio acquisitions to add to its PlayStation Studios lineup, and there have been some major recent developments on that front. They recently announced the acquisition of Returnal developer Housemarque, but it now seems that an acquisition of Bluepoint Games might also be on the verge of being announced.

The leak comes from PlayStation Japan’s own official Twitter account, funnily enough. In their tweet announcing the Housemarque acquisition, it seems they mistakenly uploaded an image pertaining to Bluepoint Games instead. That tweet has since been removed, but you can take a look at a screencap below (courtesy of ResetEra).

Since this has yet to be officially confirmed, we’re going to have to call this a rumour for now, but an announcement might just be imminent. Recent leaks from earlier in the year have suggested that Bluepoint Games are indeed going to be acquired by Sony. Seeing as the studio has worked on major PlayStation releases like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and the remakes of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls, a more permanent partnership with Sony would make a lot of sense.

It has also been suggested in rumours that Bluepoint Games are working on “several” Metal Gear Solid remakes. Read more on that through here.
