Borderlands 3 Endgame Details Coming “Around E3”, Raids Confirmed

Lead boss designer Matt Cox says "there's plenty of endgame."

Borderlands 3

Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 3 looked mighty impressive in yesterday’s gameplay showcase, offering big improvements to the core gameplay while also promising a lengthy story. The endgame is one of – if not the most – important parts of a loot game though, and thankfully, Borderlands 3 will have one.

VG247 spoke to lead boss designer Matt Cox during yesterday’s gameplay reveal event. While he didn’t confirm exactly what the endgame would be, Cox did reiterate that four story expansions were in the works. Updates and events along with raids would also be coming.

“We’re going to be releasing more details about the endgame around E3,” said Cox. “Like any other Borderlands game, we will have four story-based DLCs. We’ll have special events as well as raids. The details on how that shakes out will be announced later, but there’s plenty of endgame.”

It’s interesting that Cox used the term “raids” and not “raid bosses.” Previous Borderlands titles have had raid bosses that presented tough challenges and awarded awesome loot. Will Borderlands 3 possibly offer something more on top that? We’ll find out around E3, so stay tuned.

Borderlands 3 is out on September 13th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
