With Gearbox’s Borderlands 3 being so many times larger than any game in the franchise thus far, the question obviously arises as to how big it could possibly be. Many publications had a chance to sit down with a recent gameplay demo and clock in roughly three hours. The main story will take roughly 30 hours to beat though.
According to creative director Paul Sage, who spoke to PC Gamer, that’s only if you really rush through it. “If you beeline it through, and I mean beelining it through, it might take you 30 hours to complete the main story,” he said. It’s about in line with the length of the story in Borderlands 2, honestly.
However, one has to take all the different side content into account as well. And if you were to replay the game, experiencing it with different builds and classes while using different guns, completing challenges and engaging in the end-game, there’s a whole lot more content to be had. With billions of guns, several planets, and much deeper customization in Borderlands 3, it should be worth the wait for fans.
Releasing on September 13th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Borderlands 3 is confirmed to not have microtransactions. It will still have customizable heads and skins that can be purchased separately, but no additional currencies or pay-to-win elements will be implemented.
