Remedy Entertainment’s Control, a supernatural third person shooter of epic proportions, has gone gold. Director Mikael Kasurinen revealed this in a recent tweet, saying, “New IP, new tech, new game structure, new direction, three platforms. And three years. What an achievement from the best dev team on the planet!”
Published by 505 Games, Control tells the story of Jesse Faden, an unusual woman with special powers. She visits The Oldest House, the headquarters of the Central Bureau of Control, seeking answers. Unfortunately, a supernatural entity called the Hiss invades the HQ and kills the director. Faden takes up the Service Weapon and becomes the new director, determined to defeat the Hiss.
Control is more than just a third person shooter – its exploration takes cues from the Metroidvania genre. Remedy believes that the game will be 15 to 20 hours in length, but you have to wonder how much that goes up depending on the number of side quests completed. Control is out on August 27th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store at launch.
It is done. New IP, new tech, new game structure, new direction, three platforms. And three years. What an achievement from the best dev team on the planet! @ControlRemedy pic.twitter.com/laFc0ocNvQ
