The more we see of Control, the more two things become clear: it is very much a pastiche of the developer’s previous works, and it’s a pretty weird game. Nothing highlights this more than the latest gameplay preview, provided by GameSpot, which shows off more of the game’s combat, funky look, and character interactions.

You can see the full video below. It has exactly 18 minutes worth of footage from the game. We’ve seen the reality bending powers shown off before, along with the muted color palette that gives Control its unique look. One thing we haven’t seen much of before is character interaction. While we’ve seen screenshots of other characters, here we actually see the game’s protagonist, Jesse Faden, interacting with some NPCs. And boy, some of it is just odd. We get an insight into Jesse’s thoughts as she mulls over what they say to her, but it’s done with a disconcerting tight closeup on her face. Definitely shaping up to be a weird one- check it out.

Control launches August 27th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You can check information on preorder bonuses, platform specific content, and the upcoming expansions here.
