Crackdown 3, Scalebound, Halo Wars 2 Delays Explained by Microsoft

Sometimes things just take longer than initially expected.

Scalebound

Ever wondered what goes into major game delays? Microsoft had three major titles set to release this year with Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3 and Scalebound but all three were subsequently pushed back to next year.

Speaking to DualShockers, Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg talked about what goes into delays and how sometimes the creative process can demand more time than initially projected.

“As you go through that creative process, some times things happen fast, some times they take longer than you expect. For us making the games great, making sure the stories are great, the graphics are great in these immersive experiences, is a priority.

“Whenever we announce a title or we share when we think when a launch will be, we do that based on the information we have at that time, and then later, when we get more information and we learn more about the game, that may change the timing of the release.”

In some cases, delays can be for the better as seen with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (and hopefully for the upcoming Final Fantasy 15). Will the same sentiment ring true for Microsoft’s big three? We’ll have to wait till next year to find out.
