74. Sony wants Gaikai to provide PlayStation titles to smartphones and other mobile devices along with TVs.
President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for SCE Shuhei Yoshida said that the end goal of the cloud service Gaikai was to provide PlayStation games for mobile devices, TVs, Blu-ray players and much more. The efficiency the Gaikai is yet to be determined and understood – it hasn’t even launched yet for the PS4 and will only be arriving in 2014 for North America. How will Gaikai provide PlayStation titles in other countries which don’t have the best broadband connections? Will it also stream PS4 games at one point? Time will tell, but at the very least, Sony recognizes that its Cloud computing storage has oodles of potential.
