Cyberpunk 2077 - Update 2_06

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to receive a host of new content with its first and only expansionPhantom Liberty, but alongside that, CD Projekt RED will also be releasing a significant free update for the base game itself on current-gen consols and PC that will overhaul and improve several of its underlying systems and mechanics, from progression and skill trees to dynamic police chases. Another system that’s seeing a radical revamp is vehicle combat, which CD Projekt RED has offered more details on in a newly published update.

With Update 2.0, players in Cyberpunk 2077 (and Phantom Liberty, of course) will have multiple ways to engage in combat while driving vehicles, the most obvious being just whipping out your weapon and firing it at others while you’re still behind the wheel. While driving bikes, you’ll even be able to use melee weapons, and can even use katanas and the like to slash enemy vehicles’ tires.

Another option will be to use new mounted weapons – specifically, automated gatling guns – which can be found on certain nomad cars utilizing CrystalDome tech. Finally, you will also be able to utilize your skills as a Netrunner, and using your hacking abilities, can force cars to keep accelerating, suddenly slam their brakes, or even outright explode.

As for when we can expect to get our hands on these features, CD Projekt RED has said it’ll be sharing Update 2.0’s release date details sometime this week.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, meanwhile, launches on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 26.
