In case you haven’t heard, CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 is a massively ambitious project. Set in the futuristic Night City, players will be able to choose their own origin stories and partake in massive side quests (some of which can “change the whole story”). Even if the world is smaller than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in size, it has a whole lot more going on in terms of activities.

All that being said, The Witcher 3 was massively ambitious as well and saw a delay. How confident are CD Projekt RED in hitting the release date for Cyberpunk 2077? GameSpot spoke CD Projekt RED’s John Mamais, who is head of the Krakow office that contributed roughly one-third of the game’s content, about the same.

Mamais said that, “A lot of people do [feel good about the April 2020 date and] some people are scared about the date. It’s a normal kind of mixture of feeling about that date in the studio. That’s the directive; we need to keep that date.”

As it stands, even if the game was delayed, preorders already out-number The Witcher 3 and CD Projekt RED is expecting “phenomenal” sales. Cyberpunk 2077 is out on April 16th 2020 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Mamais also recently spoke about next-gen consoles like the Xbox Scarlett and PS5 – check here for his thoughts.
