Death Stranding 2 On the Beach

Jogging along on foot while hauling heavy cargo to distant destinations would make for a very boring experience in Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and that is where vehicles can offer a welcome change. While you will find vehicles out in the open world, there are also three vehicles that you can fabricate and customize to your heart’s content.

This guide for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach lists all vehicles, vehicle parts, and how to unlock everything vehicular related.

Tri-Cruiser

The new Tri-Cruiser is essentially a reverse or tadpole trike with two wheels in the front instead of the back, and can be unlocked by the end of Main Order 006 at the Former Geophysics Research Lab Level 1. After a cutscene with Alex Weatherstone, navigate to the Garage, then select Fabricate Vehicles. Fabricating the Tri-Cruiser costs:

  • 220 Metals
  • 160 Ceramics
  • 10 Chemicals

At Connection Level 2 in this same facility, you can unlock Additional Armour, a defensive component for the Tri-Cruiser, so make that a quick priority.

You can fabricate and store multiple Tri-Cruisers at different facilities, even though they themselves can be transported across vast distances with fast travel. In a resource pinch, you can also recycle them right back.

You will find several free Tri-Cruisers scattered about the open world over the course of your travels.

Pickup Off-Roader

Sam can get a free Pickup Off-Roader in the open world much earlier than the actual unlock to fabricate a customized one, and even before the Tri-Cruiser itself. During the course of Main Order 003, proceed towards the objective. En route to Villa Libre, you will encounter an enemy camp. Simply dispatch all enemies in the vicinity and head towards the large tent in the rear, which serves as the camp garage. The Pickup Off-Roader here has no weapon hardpoints and cannot be stored nor repaired, but can be recharged. Even so, you can make exceptionally good use of it all the way into the next region, if you can just avoid situations where it may get damaged or outright destroyed. Fortunately, it will teleport right along with you if the story cutscenes transport you between distant locations. This mechanic also applies to any vehicle you may be riding when the cutscene kicks in.

The Pickup Off-Roader is a large goods hauler with a flatbed in the rear, and can be properly unlocked by the end of Main Order 013, after having established Connection Level 1 with West Fort Knot (F1). Olivia Westbury will provide you with the schematics, then navigate to the Garage, and select Fabricate Vehicles. Fabricating the Pickup Off-Roader costs:

  • 320 Metals
  • 230 Ceramics
  • 20 Chemicals

You can fabricate and store multiple Pickup Off-Roaders at different facilities, even though they themselves can be transported across vast distances with fast travel. In a resource pinch, you can also recycle them right back.

Coffin Board

While the Floating Carrier can technically be used as a vehicle, it is a terrible compromise for only slightly improved mobility. On the other hand, the Coffin Board is quite viable for surfing around the open world including over water and tar, and has a number of other uses including stealth and regeneration when near enemies. While you will be limited to the chiral network, you can always attach and drag it behind you outside of its range, though this will then consume chiral crystals. Riding it within the network consumes battery power, but this is reduced over tar and water, while increasing speed and engine efficiency.

The Coffin Board can be unlocked by the end of Main Order 029, after delivering it to The Mechanic. Fabricating the Coffin Board costs:

  • 260 Metals
  • 200 Ceramics
  • 30 Chemicals

You can fabricate and store multiple Coffin Boards at different facilities, even though they themselves can be transported across vast distances with fast travel. In a resource pinch, you can also recycle them right back.
