Literally a few hours ago, Hideo Kojima released a cryptic new teaser trailer – barely half a minute long – for his hotly anticipated title, Death Stranding. Many guessed that it was teasing more updates to come in the imminent future, and that, as it turns out, is indeed what it was doing.

The official Twitter account for Kojima Productions has put up an update, declaring that “the countdown for Death Stranding has started”, with the date May 29th and the words “create the rope” going along with the message. That’s two days from now- and we’re expecting (or hoping) that it’ll be a meaty new trailer, which Kojima has been teasing for some time. But then again, maybe it’s another story trailer (though the entire process of counting down to something should imply that it’s much more significant for that).

Death Stranding is scheduled to launch for the PS4, and though there has been speculation that the game might be releasing as a cross-gen title for the PS5 as well, Sony has given assurances that it won’t be skipping the PS4 entirely. When does it release though? We don’t know- maybe we’ll find out soon. Here’s hoping.
