When Ghost Ship Games’ Deep Rock Galactic launched into early access in 2018, the development team felt that 200,000 units sold would be “suitable.” Cut to 2021 and the co-op shooter/mining title has sold over two million units. It’s currently available for Xbox One and PC along with being available on Game Pass for both platforms.
Ghost Ship Games also shared its 2020 year-in-review, which is when the shooter launched out of early access. Over 1.1 million units were sold last year while players averaged 31 hours and 7 minutes each. Total time spent in-game by the entire player base till date is about 7478 years. The user base has tripled since 2019 with daily active users at 46,300 and monthly active users at 310,000.
Total deaths last year hit 106 million, of which 88 million were subsequently revived. The most common cause of death is fall damage with over 20.8 million players suffering from the same. The second most deadly foe in the game is the Bulk Detonator with 6.3 million players dying at its hands.
