Maintaining a live-service game like Destiny 2 can be tough and launching a major expansion like The Witch Queen means some issues will seep through. When Nightfalls went live for this season, many had assumed the inclusion of Acute Burn Modifiers for Grandmaster difficulty to be a mistake. Considering players can deal 25 percent more damage and receive 50 percent more damage from a specific element, it’s understandable why.
However, this was actually intentional. Senior community manager dmg04 said on Twitter that the patch notes for update 4.0.01 had an error regarding Acute Burn Modifiers and has since been updated. It’s worth noting that Seasonal Vanguard Ops modifiers aren’t meant to appear in Grandmaster difficulty so there’s at least that.
Given how difficult Grandmaster Nightfalls already are, it remains to be seen if Bungie will stick with this. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, make sure to vote for either mech or evolved monster armor for this year’s Festival of the Lost. Head here to learn more.
We have identified an errant patch note released with Destiny 2 Update 4.0.0.1 dealing with Acute Burn Modifiers:
– Acute Burn modifiers are intended to appear in Grandmaster Nightfalls.
– Seasonal Vanguard Ops modifiers are not intended to appear at Grandmaster Difficulty.— dmg04 (@A_dmg04) April 6, 2022
We are updating our patch notes to reflect intended design, which should be published within the next hour.
