Diablo 3 Eternal Collection

Yesterday, we reported that Blizzard wasn’t being too godawful shy about the fact that they’re working on a new Diablo title, with job listings explicitly stating they were looking for people to work on an unannounced game in the series. Well, it’s looking very likely that it is, in fact, Diablo 4, going by a report that the game has already been shown internally at the company.

Unfortunately, the source of the news is not a particularly happy one. The information comes from a report via French newspaper Le Monde, as they covered the recent major layoffs Blizzard Versailles. In that report it’s mentioned that before that, anxious employees got a look at Diablo 4, as translated by Damien at the Icy Veins forums.

“The Blizzard Entertainment teams have already had the right to [watch] a presentation of the highly anticipated Diablo 4 and know that a new Overwatch is in the pipes,” reads the report. “But none will come out before 2020, at best, and the employees of Versailles do not know if they will still be around when they eventually arrive.”

While it is exciting to know a new, presumably more traditional, Diablo is in the works, it comes from a bittersweet place. We wish those employees the best in their future endeavours.

As far as Diablo 4 goes, if it’s already being shown internally, it’s probably farther along than we may have expected. We’ll keep you updated when more information comes out.
