When it comes to legendary series, they don’t get much more legendary than Final Fantasy and DOOM. One is a long running RPG series that helped define the modern day blockbuster game and the other is a long running shooter that has seen an incredible revival in recent years.  That’s why it’s so fun to see a tip of the hat from one to the other.

The latest game from the DOOM franchise, DOOM Eternal, came out mid way of the last month. That game had its time in the sun so to speak (you can read our review of it through here), and it’s taking its time to homage to the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Remake that is officially out today. There’s a great piece of artwork via the DOOM Twitter that’s a great mock up of Final Fantasy 7‘s cover, both the original and remake, with the Doom Slayer using his Crucible Blade. You can see it below.

DOOM Eternal is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available as of today exclusively for PlayStation 4, where it will have an exclusive window of a year.
