We first officially heard about Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake back in 2021, which means the wait for the title has been a long one (and made to feel longer by the long stretches of radio silence rom Square Enix for a large portion of that time). That wait, however, is finally over, with the game now available. Check out its launch trailer through here.

As its name suggests, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake reimagines the classic NES RPG with the HD-2D visual style, while using the Octopath Traveler engine. On top of overhauled visuals, music, and new voice acting, the remake touts several gameplay enhancements, quality-of-life upgrades, and more.

In our review of the remake, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is a prime example of enhancing a classic without taking away the things that made it so endearing. It’s a must-play experience and well worth diving into for fans of the original.” Read the full review through here.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remakeits chronological sequel, will follow in 2025, completing a remake of the original Erdrick Trilogy.
