Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is a role playing game developed by AMATA K.K. and Team Asano, and published by Square Enix.
It is a ground-up remake of the original game, built on the engine and using the visual style of Square Enix RPG Octopath Traveler.
The Japanese game designer and scenario writer, who is best known as the xo-creator of the Dragon Quest series, gets the lifetime achievement award at the 2022 Game Developers Choice Awards.
LIVE A LIVE and Dragon Quest 3 are both in line for full-blown HD-2D remakes, but there might be more in the pipeline beyond those two.
Koichi Sugiyama passed from septic shock on September 30th. He was the sole composer for the Dragon Quest series since its debut.
Though it's not official yet, series creator Yuji Horii says Square Enix could also remake the first two games in the series in the HD-2D style.
Developed by Team Asano and AMATA K.K., the gorgeous remake is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release for "home consoles."
Series creator Yuji Horii teases that "that game" will be announced as well.
