Dragon Quest Builders 2 6

In a recent livestream (which you can view below), Square Enix revealed nearly thirty minutes of gameplay from the upcoming Dragon Quest Builders 2, and it’s looking predictably excellent. Fans of the first game (which was awesome in its own right) will likely be very pleased with what they see here.

The footage showcases a lot of what you’d expect, from building to combat, much of which looks as slick as it did in the first game (the building, at any rate). There’s also some improvements that might catch your eye. For instance, it seems like you can now equip your character with two weapons at any time, rather than having to switch in and out constantly. Additionally, it also looks like Square Enix are expanding and polishing up options for the building mechanics quite a lot.

Take a look below (the video’s timestamped, so just hit play). Interestingly, Square also confirmed during the livestream that a demo for the game would be released prior to the game’s launch in Japan- while there’s no word on a demo for the west yet, hopefully it’ll happen eventually.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is due out in Japan for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch on December 20- a Western release date has not yet been announced. The game will also feature co-op multiplayer. A new set of details and screenshots were also recently revealed- take a look through here.
