Roger Ebert and Video Games As Art
Legendary film critic Roger Ebert took it upon himself to write about video games and how they can never be art. His argument was that art is meant to be experienced and not “won” like video games usually are. There are other little nuances here and there but by and large, this was just his opinion. Unsurprisingly, it prompted a storm of controversy from just about every gaming corner on the Internet. What probably isn’t known is that Ebert slightly modified his stance later, noting that games might someday become great art. Basically, man with an opinion angers people on the Internet. Move along.
