EA Access may have unwittingly revealed the name of this year’s Battlefield installment. There’s been a lot of hype and speculation surrounding the game. Recently, a supposed leak on Imgur claiming that this year’s Battlefield would be set during World War II, and that it would be subtitled Eastern Front, turned out to be a hoax. Today, however, EA Access’ own Twitter account lent fuel to the rumour mill.
In response to a question about why Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline entered the EA Access programme, EA Access’ official account tweeted that it was to “Celebrate the Battlefield 5 event tomorrow.” EA confirmed that a Battlefield event would be taking place tomorrow, and even teased a brief 9-second in-engine clip.
However, we’ve yet to receive official confirmation about just what this year’s Battlefield game will be named. On account of Battlefield: Hardline’s departure from the mainline franchise, it’s up in the air as to whether or not this year’s Battlefield is a numbered entry. The EA Access slip up makes it fairly evident that it is, though. Stay tuned for more Battlefield details after tomorrow’s event.
