At its recent Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft showed off a wealth of upcoming first-party titles, and one of several to catch the eye was Fable. The action RPG received a new trailer offering further glimpses of gameplay, its fantasy setting, style of humour, and more, and alongside that, further information about its development has also been confirmed.

Specifically, it has been officially revealed that Eidos Montreal, the studio behind the Deus Ex series, is providing development support on Fable. The studio confirmed the news with a tweet, writing, “We’re so excited to be supporting the development of Fable! It’s been a blast collaborating with the talented team at Playground Games to craft an unforgettable adventure.”

News of Eidos Montreal providing support work on Fable first broke in 2022, with reports claiming that the action RPG was one of multiple projects the studio was working on, alongside a new Deus Ex game. The latter, however, was reported last year to have been cancelled by parent company Embracer Group.

Fable, on the other hand, seems to be making solid progress on the road to release, with Microsoft also having officially announced a launch window. The game will be out next year for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
