Battlefield 5 and Fallout 76 may have managed to chart well enough in the NPD charts for November, but on the whole, their sales have been a step down from the previous instalments in both franchises. And if you thought that was because they had done better in digital sales, then, well…
According to a report by SuperData, both games, while ranking in the list of top ten digital console games by sales for the month of November, ended up underperforming, especially relative to their predecessors.
“We estimate Battlefield V and Fallout 76 sold 1.9 million and 1.4 million digital units, respectively, across console and PC at launch. Both are down from Battlefield 1 and Fallout 4,” the report says.
This news is doubtless troubling to EA and Bethesda, because it seems to suggest that performance for both games is down across the board. Both publishers will probably need to do some soul searching, and try to figure out a way to make the games, and their respective brands, bounce back from the beating they have taken over the past few weeks.
Battlefield 5 and Fallout 76 are both out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
