Fallout 76

In a recent documentary by NoClip that details the making of Bethesda’s Fallout 76, the developer revealed that there would be microtransactions. However, these would be used to purchase cosmetics which are also available to earn through gameplay.

The microtransactions will serve to keep dedicated servers running and also fund free DLC and updates. Bethesda promises “free updates for years to come” with smaller updates (new events and items) filling the space between larger content drops. The developer also wants to double down on features that players love, even if that means changing its original plans.

Revealed in-depth at E3 2018, Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 76 is a fairly ambitious title for the franchise. All compunctions about being online-only aside, the game will allow players to team up and explore post-nuclear fallout West Virginia, rebuilding the world slowly.

Of course, those same players can also turn out to be enemies. With a world four times the size of Fallout 4, there’s quite a lot to get through and with free updates, the world will only get bigger overtime. Fallout 76 releases on November 14th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
