Final Fantasy 16 Demo Frame Rate, Resolution, and More Revealed

Resolutions in Quality and Performance Mode are upscaled, and cinematics are locked to 30 FPS, but loading times are seamless.

The long-awaited demo for Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16 is now available to download on PS5 from the PlayStation Store. ElAnalistaDeBits delved into the frame rate and resolution for the same, but as always, the final game’s performance could vary.

Final Fantasy 16 has two graphics modes – Quality and Performance. The former runs at 2160p/30 FPS, with the resolution upscaled from 1440p. Performance Mode runs in 1440p/60 FPS, upscaled from 1080p. Quality Mode sports improved higher quality shadows, anisotropic filtering, and render resolution with some post-processing effects like slight god rays.

Interestingly, Performance Mode isn’t a stable 60 FPS and can drop to 40 FPS during more hectic scenes. Regardless of the mode, cinematics are locked to 30 FPS. On the bright side, the loading times are “practically non-existent.”

Final Fantasy 16 launches on June 22nd for PS5, so stay tuned for more detailed graphical comparisons. In the meantime, check out the latest gameplay and live-action trailers.
