Final Fantasy 16

During PAX East 2024, the development team for Final Fantasy 16 revealed tons of new information for its second paid DLC, The Rising Tide. However, for those still on the base game, it’s also getting a free update that adds great quality-of-life features.

Quick Complete will allow for warping back to a quest giver once the objective is complete, cutting down on the time needed to return. Icons for a quest involving collectibles for Clive’s Wall of Memories are also changed, allowing you to identify them better. Perhaps the best new feature is Skill Set, letting you save up to five sets of Abilities and Feats to switch to out of combat.

Abilities and Accessories are also getting some adjustments (thankfully, no nerfs), alongside new options for customizing button layouts. Photo Mode is also receiving new features like Tone Effects, Screen Effects and more, and those who love collecting Orchestrion Rolls can look forward to 40 more, including some from Eikon battles.

Patch notes for Ver.1.30 will be revealed later, so stay tuned. Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide launches on April 18th for PS5. Check out some of the new abilities that Clive will receive and the new locations that you’ll be exploring. The expansion also adds a new endgame survival mode called Kairos Gate – head here for more details.
