It’s been over a month since Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s launch, but the massive open world action RPG continues to occupy a sizeable portion of our headspace even now, thanks in no small part to how ambitious the game turned out to be, and how effectively Square Enix managed to make good on its vision in what was a relatively short development cycle. To shed some light on that process, the company has released a four-part behind-the-scenes series that details the development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Along with an episode that talks about the game’s open world and how it was crafted, three others cover various other aspects of the title. In the second episode, the likes of game director Naoki Hamaguchi, creative director Tetsuya Nomura, producer Yoshinori Kitase, scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, and others discuss the game’s story and the process of crafting its cutscenes.

Meanwhile, the third episode covers the game’s wide cast of characters, how they’re portrayed in the remake as compared to the original, how they function in combat, and more. Several more members of the development team are also featured here, including lead character artist Dai Suzuki, localization producer Eri Asano, English translator Ben Sabin, battle director Teruki Endo, and battle animation director Horiyuki Yamaji, among others.

Finally, the fourth episode of the behind-the-scenes series discusses the game’s voice acting, with the English voice cast for the entire main party (except Cid) being featured- Cody Christian (Cloud), Britt Baron (Tifa), Briana White (Aerith), John Eric Bentley (Barret), Max Mittelman (Red XIII), Suzie Yeung (Yuffie), Caleb Pierce (Zack Fair), and Matt Mercer (Vincent).
