Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is less than a week away from launch now, and excitement surrounding it is sky-high, especially with reviews for the action RPG having recently gone live across a wide number of outlets, and the consensus being best described as universal acclaim. Currently, the game has a score of 93 on Metacritic (making it the series’ second-highest rated game to date), and that, as it turns out, was explicitly one of the goals that its development team was working towards.

So confirms Naoki Hamaguchi, game director on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, who took to Twitter in the aftermath of the game’s review embargo lifting to commemorate its high scores, recognize the effort of the development team, and acknowledge the support of the community and others.

“To reach review scores over 90 was one of our goals as a development team to reach fans and welcome new ones as well,” Hamaguchi wrote. “This wonderful result was only possible thanks to the entire development team’s hard work and dedication, so I’d like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

“I’ve been supported by the press, community, influencers, and the PR team and I can’t thank them enough. Let’s continue this positive momentum through the launch of the game.”

In our own review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, we awarded it a score of 10/10, saying, “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is one of the best Final Fantasy games of all time. It’s nothing short of a spectacle, an epic journey full of bombastic action, heartfelt emotion, and unforgettable moments- a celebration both of itself and the legendary game it is based on, one that brazenly and loudly demands your attention, and actually manages to hold on to it, because all of its flash is backed by just as much substance. From storytelling to world design, from exploration to combat, from visuals to music, from the amount of content it offers to how much meaningful variety that content exhibits, in nearly every way that matters, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth surpasses expectations.” Read our full review through here.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches for PS5 on February 29.
