The scale of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is pretty absurd, with creative director Tetsuya Nomura promising 100 hours of gameplay. The amount of side content being double that of the main quest is also nuts, as is the 150 GB installation space required for the game. How long does it take to finish the story, though?
Speaking to Game Informer, director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that fans can expect about 40 hours of gameplay by focusing on the main quest. However, side content constitutes “about 80 percent” of all the exploration, and those who complete a “good amount” of it can expect a playthrough of approximately 60 hours.
Where does the 100-hour figure come from? That’s for the “most dedicated” players who play through the side quests. However, it’s worth noting that they’ll “top” the 100-hour mark on their save file, not necessarily finish everything in that span.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches on February 29th, 2024 for PS5. In addition to side content, there will be new cities to explore that weren’t in the original game. Head here for more details.
