Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be getting a physical release as part of a twin pack. The physical release is slated for December 4, and is available for pre-order through the official Square Enix store, priced at €69.99‎. The twin pack is only coming to PS5 for the time being.

Along with this, the company has also confirmed that the twin pack physical release will include all of the contents of both games on physical discs, and will be split across three Blu-Ray discs.

While the PS5 might be getting a unified physical release for the first two games in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, the first title is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S on January 22. Along with the core game and the contents of the Intergrade expansion, the ports of the title will also feature streamlined progression options that allows players to enable max damage, maxed out Gil and Materia levels, as well as easier ways to learn weapon abilities.

Just last month, co-director Naoki Hamaguchi had also spoken about the development of the third and final game in the trilogy, noting that work on the title had progressed far enough to where the developers were focused on refinement. He also said that the second game in the series – Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – had sold quite well on both PC and PS5, which meant that development of the third title wasn’t anything for fans to be concerned about.

“The second entry, FFVII Rebirth, has been doing very well on both PS5 and PC,” said Hamaguchi. “I know some fans have expressed concerns, but please rest assured, we’ll be able to deliver a proper, high-quality third installment.”

“Development is going extremely well, and the game is shaping up nicely,” he continued. “A lot of the content is already playable, and the game’s direction and form are firmly set in place. Right now, the team is united around refining everything.”

Hamaguchi had also spoken about how the studio approaches fan feedback, especially in the development period between the release of one game in the trilogy and the production of the next. He also spoke about how beneficial it has been for the studio to split the grand and epic story of Final Fantasy 7 from one game in its original incarnation to three titles in the Remake trilogy.

“Yes, I think that is an important aspect,” said Hamaguchi when asked about how important fan feedback has been during development. “We do listen to a lot of feedback, obviously, it is very important to us. Certainly, one thing our producer, Yoshinori Kitase, has said it’s an advantage of this series that we can look at the results part way through because it’s a trilogy of three games, and one of them will go out into the world and they’ll get responses to that, and then we can look at that and reflect that in the later game. That is definitely a part of it. That is very important. It’s a great opportunity to be able to do that as well.”
