Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy 7 back in epic fashion with next year’s remake. The original RPG still has some impressive numbers though. It was announced that since releasing in 1997 for the PlayStation One, Final Fantasy 7 has sold over 12.3 million units worldwide. This includes total packaged shipments and download numbers.

Final Fantasy 7 was a big hit in the PS One era and would also arrive for other platforms like PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. Though many debate on whether it’s the best in the series or not, Final Fantasy 7 certainly elevated the franchise to new heights at launch. Will that trend repeat with the remake?

Speaking of which, to celebrate Halloween, Square Enix released a screenshot for Final Fantasy 7 Remake showcasing the monstrous “Ghosts.” And yes, they certainly look scarier than when they first appeared in Midgar way back in the day. Final Fantasy 7 Remake is out on March 3rd 2020 for PS4.
